This thesis focuses on the development of an augmented reality application for assisting in data acquisition for training datasets of radar sensors used in automotive applications. The resulting application is designed to run on a Meta Quest 3 headset and uses AruCo markers detected via OpenCV on the headset camera to place and align 3D bumper models loaded at runtime. The application is implemented in Unity with OpenXR and the Meta XR SDK and provides configurable test sequences, a dynamic "kick grid" overlay, animated demonstrations, and an on-headset TCP/IP server to integrate with an external recording PC. This in turn enables for a simulation for how someone would kick under a real sized car bumper, improving the acquired data and time required for such a task. A sample-averaging algorithm was developed that improves the acquired positional data which was then verified by performing tests with favourable results. A user study with 12 participants compared the traditional testing workflow to the AR-guided workflow. The AR group achieved a lower average testing time, reducing the mean duration by approximately 145.8 seconds, and produced more consistent timings across participants.
