This bachelor thesis explores the phenomena of micro-bending and macro-bending in silica optical fibers. The theoretical part analyzes the principles of light propagation, fiber structure, and various physical phenomena affecting optical transmission, with a specific focus on bending loss mechanisms. The practical part is dedicated to experimental measurements of the impact of macro-bending on the attenuation of two fiber types (G.652 and G.657 standards) across four different wavelengths. As part of the research, a detection system for capturing light leaking from macro-bends was designed, and a methodology for its quantification was developed. The final section of the thesis, based on an extensive series of measurements of a commercially available clip-on coupler, defines recommendations for efficient and stable signal detection from fiber bends.

Student prezentoval výsledky své práce a komise byla seznámena s posudky. Student obhájil bakalářskou práci a odpověděl na otázky členů komise a oponenta. Otázky: 1) Jak by bylo možné upravit navržený detekční systém tak, aby se zvýšil zachycený výkon unikající z makroohybu a současně se snížila citlivost na přesné geometrické nastavení sondy?
