The paper examined the usage of sheet-based gyroids as heat exchangers. The goal was to create a finite element method solver capable of modeling the flow of fluids and the heat transfer. The Navier-Stokes equations and energy conservation laws were used in the mathematical model to govern these phenomena. This method requires a mesh, which was obtained from implicit geometry using the marching cubes algorithm and TetGen. To implement these features, a MATLAB program was written with minimal use of 3rd party software. Another goal was to create a surrogate model, using artificial neural networks, capable of predicting the outputs of a model based on the training data it receives. This was also implemented in MATLAB using the Deep Learning Toolbox. In the results chapter, functionality of the analytical model was presented on three different problems. This chapter also contains the resulting data obtained from the surrogate model.
