This diploma thesis deals with the possibility of categorizing vehicles according to the stiffness of their front structure in order to simplify the quantification of vehicle damage in traffic accident reconstruction. The theoretical part describes the principles of vehicle deformation behavior, Energy Equivalent Speed (EES), the structural design of vehicle front ends, and methods of damage documentation. The practical part is based on the evaluation of crash-test data from the NHTSA database. For individual vehicles, stiffness parameters 𝐴 and 𝐵 were determined and subsequently statistically evaluated within vehicle market segments. The thesis also includes an assessment of outliers, a correlation analysis of mass-geometric parameters, and verification of conversion coefficients 𝑋 and 𝑌. The results show that market segments can serve as a basic framework for vehicle categorization, but they are not a universally sufficient criterion. Simplified use of data from similar vehicles is possible only for selected, sufficiently homogeneous categories.

Student nejprve prezentoval výsledky, kterých dosáhl v rámci své práce. Komise se poté seznámila s hodnocením vedoucího a posudkem oponenta práce. Student následně odpověděl na otázky oponenta a na další otázky přítomných členů komise: 1. Zohledňoval jste použité metody NHTSA stran šířky deformace a šířky vozidla? Komise se na základě posudku oponenta, hodnocení vedoucího, přednesené prezentace a odpovědí studenta na položené otázky rozhodla práci hodnotit stupněm B
