Abstract:

The settlement structure is gradually and continuously created and transformed in connection with the transformation of natural and social conditions.
The dissertation deals with the reflection of current scientific knowledge from the point of view of their application based on the evaluation of the current model of the creation and development of settlements. The urban structure is viewed as a living organism that responds to stimuli and transforms. A structure that is capable of adaptation is healthy and viable.
Especially settlements in the perimeter of large cities are confronted with the needs of adaptation to growing and changing requirements, their structure responds to ongoing suburbanization.
This work examines the adaptability of the settlement structure in the Brno Metropolitan Area, namely in the territory of two administrative districts of municipalities with extended jurisdiction - Židlochovice and Kuřim. A qualitative analysis of the development and transformation of urban structures is carried out using map data. The rate of the current and planned area development of urban structures is compared, indicating the dynamics of settlement development. The analysis of the development and transformation of urban structures has traced qualitative criteria, the occurrence of which in the monitored area is recorded by the last phase of research and which have an impact on the ability of the settlement structure to transform. Based on the most frequent phenomena, the characteristics that are inherent in adaptable structures and which therefore need to be monitored when creating, developing and transforming settlement structures so that they are best prepared to face current problems were described.
