Management of Project

This subject will introduce fundamentals and principles of present project management with regard to international metodologies. Students will learn new methods that are used in managing of projects and its computer tools during proposals and managing projects.

Rules for evaluation and completion of the course

CREDIT

To obtain the course credit, students are required to successfully complete a written credit test focused on the practical application of selected project management methods and tools. The test assesses students’ ability to apply the knowledge and skills practised during seminars, perform basic calculations, interpret the results, and apply project management principles to specific situations.

EXAM

The exam is written and consists of two parts. The first part consists of multiple-choice questions with one correct answer. The second part consists of open-ended questions focused on understanding, applying, and integrating knowledge from different areas of project management.

REQUIREMENTS FOR STUDENTS WITH AN INDIVIDUAL STUDY PLAN CREDIT

The test assesses students’ ability to apply the knowledge and skills practised during seminars, perform basic calculations, interpret the results, and apply project management principles to specific situations.

The date of the credit test will be arranged individually with the teacher.

Attendance at lectures is recommended. Attendance at seminars is monitored through the completion of assigned tasks. Classes are held according to the weekly timetable.

Aims

The goal of the subject is to teach students principals of current project management with regard to competence of project manager.
Students will learn principals and methods that are used in management of the projects and with their informational support in conception and management projects.
After passing this subject students will be able to be part of the project teams s or participated.

Syllabus


The course focuses on the theoretical definition of the principles, methods and tools of project management. The theoretical definition of the course is based on the international methodologies PRINCE2, PMI and IPMA and uses current trends in project management. The knowledge and skills acquired will be applicable to business and project management at lower and middle management level.

  2. Project Management 2026: What has changed in project management, recent developments in project management certifications, project vs. product management, the role of the Scrum Master, hybrid project management, AI.
  3. Strategy: The relationship between strategy, project objectives and project benefits, strategic alignment of projects, project prioritisation.
  4. Projects, Programmes, Portfolios and Stakeholder Management: Projects, programmes and portfolios, stakeholder identification, stakeholder expectations and stakeholder management.
  5. Project Teams and Leadership: Teamwork, effective teams, high-performing teams, leadership.
  6. Motivation and Personal Values: New approaches to motivation, personal values, Gallup, employee engagement.
  7. The Future of Project Management and Personal Effectiveness: The changing role of the project manager, future competencies, personal effectiveness and resilience.
  8. Managing Projects in Dynamic Environments: International and virtual teams, start-ups, change management, uncertainty and adaptation.
  9. AI as a Tool for Project Managers: The use of AI in project management, opportunities, limitations and risks.
  10. Feedback and Performance Management: Feedback, 1:1 meetings, KPIs and OKRs, goal setting, performance evaluation.
  11. Agile, Waterfall and Hybrid Project Management: When to use different approaches, practical application of Scrum and Kanban, self-organising teams, agile transformation.
  12. Projects in Trouble: Scope creep, conflicts, changes, delays, team overload, crisis communication and negotiation.
