THE END OF THE COURSE:
Credit requirements:
To obtain the course credit, students are required to prepare a position paper on a selected topic in contemporary international project management and present and discuss their position in class.


Examination requirements:
The final exam will be written and will consist of open-ended questions. The questions will focus on students’ understanding of key concepts and their ability to apply and critically discuss the topics covered in the course.

Aims

Students will gain knowledge about managing project in business, especially managing international projects.
Managing the project, leading projects team, stakeholder management and soft skills needed for projects. When students pass this subject, they should know how to manage project in changing environment and in conditions of 21. Century.

Syllabus

The course focuses on project management based on the international IPMA (International Project Management Association) methodology and current trends in project management.

Lecture Topics

Introduction to International Project Management – course introduction, current trends in project management.

Strategy, Projects and Stakeholders – strategy, objectives, project benefits, projects, programmes and portfolios, prioritisation, stakeholder management.

Project Teams and Leadership – teamwork, effective and high-performing teams, leadership.

The Future of Project Management and Personal Effectiveness – the changing role of the project manager, future competencies, personal effectiveness and resilience.

Managing International Projects in Dynamic Environments – international and virtual teams, cultural differences, start-ups, uncertainty, change and adaptation.

Performance Management and Adaptive Project Management – feedback, 1:1 meetings, KPIs and OKRs, goal setting, performance evaluation, Waterfall, Agile and hybrid approaches, Scrum and Kanban, self-organising teams and agile transformation.
