Speleological Mapping

Karst as a natural and scientific phenomenon. The Moravian Karst and its subdivision. Organization of speleologists in Czech Republic and in the world, specifics of speleological mapping, underground survey points, used measurement instruments and aids, specifics of magnetic azimuths measurement, procedure of documentation work, surveying methods, processing methods, field surveying in a karst cave, processsing.

Aims

Acquaintance with problems of karst phenomena, its classification and preservation. Getting practical knowledge in field of speleological mapping.
Student will be introduced with teoretical karsologie and practical speleologie, especially with speleological mapping.

  • 1. Purpose and content of the subject, requiements for obtaining the credit, information sources. Organization of field excursion. Organization of speleologists in Czech Republic and in the world. Specifics of speleological mapping. Underground survey points.
  • 2. Used measurement instruments and aids.
  • 3. Specifics of magnetic azimuths measurement. Procedure of documentation work, surveying methods.
  • 4. Procedure of documentation work, processing methods.
  • 5.-7. Field surveying in a karst cave.
  • 8.-9. Processsing.
  • 10. Checking fulfilment requirements and granting credits.
