Rules for evaluation and completion of the course

Course credit is awarded on the basis of an assessment of the skills acquired or, where appropriate, a discussion of the development of an individual project in moving-image production. Subject to individual agreement, attendance at lectures is not compulsory for students completing their own project during the course.

Aims

The course aims to develop proficiency in the basic moving-image post-production workflow using current digital technologies: editing in widely used software (Final Cut Pro, Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve), preparing graphics for film (Photoshop, Illustrator), processing sound (Sound Forge, WaveLab, Cubase, Nuendo), and finalising the complete project in the most common presentation formats.

A further aim is to develop a basic level of independent practice in the field, particularly proficiency in operating the non-linear editing suites and video equipment available in the Department of Audiovisual Technology.

Teaching is delivered in intensive blocks and includes workshops led by external practitioners.
