Essentials of the discipline of building technologies. Analysis and principles of planning of individual construction processes associated with the main construction production. Principles of technological procedures and their implementation in different technological phases of earthworks, substructure, superstructure and overall building envelope. Solution of the technological, spatial and temporal structure of the construction process. Order of activities, construction site preparedness, interrelationships and quality, safety and environmental requirements. 

The indoor environment of buildings and its creation by the systems of technical equipment of buildings. Water supply of buildings, sewage disposal. Heating systems and hot water preparation. Forced ventilation and air conditioning systems for buildings. Heat and cold sources for near-zero energy buildings. Energy recycling in buildings and optimisation of building energy performance. Interconnection of construction and technological processes with the implementation of technical building services.

Rules for evaluation and completion of the course

Aims

After completing the course, the student will have a basic overview of the production processes in the construction industry and the optimal way of implementing a construction. The student will be able to apply the principles of technological procedures and the links between the spatial and temporal structure of construction processes to various construction investments, especially in the implementation of the technological stages of earthworks, substructure, superstructure and building envelope. After completing the course, the student will be able to prepare a document of the Technological Regulations for the processes of construction, will be able to take into account the requirements arising from the analysis of the partial construction processes and the specifics according to the material characteristics of individual structures. The student will acquire encyclopaedic knowledge of the creation of the internal environment of buildings by the systems of technical equipment of buildings, including the connection to the energy concept of buildings. The student will gain an overview of the use of renewable energy sources and the possibilities of energy recycling in buildings. Understand the methodology of energy assessment of buildings.

Syllabus

  1. Introduction to the sciences of building technology and technical equipment of buildings.
  2. Processes of earthworks and foundation structure of buildings. Construction setting out, methods and procedures for earthworks. Design and procedures for formwork installation, preparation and placement of reinforcement and su subsequently of fresh concrete.
  3. Sanitary equipment, concentration of installations. Internal sewerage - connection, waste, ventilation pipes and downpipes. Sewer connections, domestic sewage treatment plants and cesspools.
  4. Implementation of reinforced monolithic structures. Principles of implementation of vertical and horizontal structures of the lower and upper parts of the building.
  5. Internal water supply. Lying, rising, floor distribution and connection pipes, hot water preparation, water connections, water supply from own source. Heating gases, gas appliances, gas consumption equipment, gas pipeline connections.
  6. Principles of implementation of building envelopes and internal load-bearing walls. Auxiliary structures, scaffolding.
  7. Building ventilation and air conditioning systems. Central and local systems in civil, residential and healthcare construction.
  8. Assembly processes. Concept of construction site equipment, design and verification of lifting mechanisms.
  9. Thermal systems of buildings and their parts. Division and principles of technical design of hot water heating systems. Basic types of heating surfaces, convection heaters, radiant floor and wall heating systems.
  10. Modern construction methods. Hybrid and modular construction of buildings, principles of production, transport, storage and assembly. Examples of specific projects and buildings.
  11. Heat and cold sources for heating and air conditioning of buildings. Biomass boilers, heat pumps, central heat supply. District heating. Renewable energy sources.
  12. Interior and finishing works, introduction to the issue. Content, technological order of processes and general principles of internal and finishing works, continuity and coordination.
  13. Energy performance of the building and its preparation for climate change. Near-zero energy homes, zero energy buildings.

  1. Introduction to the practice. Technological regulations, OHS requirements on construction sites. Overview of technical systems in buildings ensuring the quality of indoor space.
  2. Earthwork processes. Methods and procedures for earthworks and foundation structure.
  3. Internal sewerage, floor plan and longitudinal section. Sewer connection,
  4. Formwork and reinforcement of concrete structures.
  5. Internal water supply and gas pipeline. Sanitary equipment and fixtures.
  6. Masonry processes, principles of implementation of brick, block and stone masonry.
  7. Ventilation system for the municipal building.
  8. Assembly processes. Design and verification of lifting mechanism.
  9. Hot water systems with forced circulation heating elements.
  10. Excursions (field trip).
  11. Visit to the building with current HVAC systems.
  12. Technological order of processes and general principles of internal and finishing works, continuity and coordination.
  13. Energy performance of the building, interpretation of the parameters of the reference and assessed building.
