The course is intended to teach general English as a foreign language at B1 level. It is focused on practical, everyday communication and revising previous knowledge. ESP included.
English Skills Course Syllabus
Introduction: study materials, requirements, learning strategies concerning foreign languages
Topic 1: Sociology: Are first impressions accurate? - Be able to speak about impressions of people, to make inferences, to compare and contrast. Auxiliary verbs, suffixes.
Topic 2: Behavioral Science - What can we learn from success and failure? Listening for examples, paraphrasing. Simple past and present perfect, prefixes.
Topic 3: Marketing: How does advertising affect our behaviour? Discussing and evaluating the influence of advertising, modals, expressing attitude.
Topic 4: Neurology: Will AI ever be as smart as humans? Justifying claims, leading a group discussion, taking notes. Gerunds and infinitives.

Rules for evaluation and completion of the course
To pass this course it is necessary, apart from active participation in the class and individual home preparation, to pass the credit test (at least 60%) focused on testing grammar and vocabulary. There is a possibility for the student to resit the test.
60% of elearning activities is the minimum, 60% pass mark written test.
