Exhibition Design

The course provides information on the work of architects in disciplines developing the basic topic of designing architecture of inner space – interior. This discipline includes creation of permanent and temporary exhibitions and multimedia expositions. The programme of the course includes the relevant knowledge as scenic composition of space (structural systems, design and detail), colourfulness (techniques of work with colours), systems of lighting and sound, multimedia systems and basic methods of presenting artistic testimony – graphical and modelling techniques. Part of the course are visits to art studios and workshops, as well as current expositions.
In the study programmes “Architecture and Urban Design” the course is part of the technical courses.

Rules for evaluation and completion of the course

Based on assigned semestral work. The requirements are given in the first seminar.
Mandatory participation in the seminars, excuses only in serious cases. Compensation via consultation with the teacher upon the agreement.
Upon the agreement with the teacher, the absences in the classroom can be compensated via online participation.

Aims

To familiarize with the history and latest development of exhibitions and design of multimedia expositions. To understand the specifics of the field, method of work with text and sound, development of imagination and fantasy which have other possibilities in performative disciplines than in architecture per se. To understand the scenic and exposition technologies.
  • Students will be introduced to the history and current development in exhibitions (theatre, film, audio-visual and design of multimedia expositions).
  • Students will understand the specifics of the field, methods of work with text and audio, will develop imagination and fantasy.
  • Students will be familiar with scene and exposition technologies.
  • Students will be familiar with the process of permanent and temporary exposition.
  • Students will know how to create an exposition script.
