Course detail
Practics of Sport Diagnostics
CESA-SSSDAcad. year: 2023/2024
Learning outcomes of the course unit The subject is focused on gaining practical experience and skills in working with diagnostic technique for sport and physical activity. The subject also deals with the principles of function, design and parameters of diagnostic instruments and systems for monitoring of training, performance, kinematics and dynamics. Students will try to work with devices for biomechanical motion analysis and devices defining the state of selected motor abilities and skills. Furthermore, they will learn how to work with devices for monitoring common daily physical activities and load the organism in the field using simpler GPS devices. Learning outcomes of the course unit The course is focused mainly on the practice, so students will learn not only about their operation, but also about their settings, calibration and possibly also with problems that may occur during their use.

Aims
Students will acquire basic knowledge of the function and properties of work with basic devices for monitoring in sports - the most commonly used sports diagnostic techniques.
They will be able to apply them in practice with their own measurements with athletes and non-performing populations. They will be able to collect selected data, process them for evaluation and interpretation.
They will be able to prepare measurements, select appropriate diagnostic tools for data collection, process data for evaluation and interpretation based on requirements specification.
Student is able to:
- distinguish the instruments for each type of measurement in sport
- define non-invasive measurements for sport and physical activity
- to list and discuss the characteristics of individual instruments suitable for sports measurements,
- describe and explain the principles of instruments for measuring the level of individual motor skills, skills,
- describe and explain the principles of kinematic, kinetic,
- to discuss and define sources of errors in selected diagnostic techniques.
