The course covers the areas of communication models, transfer of information, network architecture and basic description of ISO/OSI and TCP/IP network models. The attention is paid to the transport and network/Internet layers, data flow control, principles of quality of service and security assurance in fixed and wireless networks.

Aims
The course deals with the issues of communication networks, their utilization and protocols ensuring the transfer of information between network nodes and mainly the end devices. The aim of this course is to gain knowledge about characteristic properties of individual layers of network models, data traffic control in computer networks, quality of service and security issues of these data trasmmisions.
The students gain detailed theoretical and practical knowledge in communication, network design, data flow control and security.
