Forming Tools

FSI-9TVNAcad. year: 2023/2024

The forming tools for all kinds of basic forming technologies. The design of big follow-tools for cutting. The design of combinated follow-tools. The bending tools for forming of big size parts. The using of special materials for active parts of tools. The surface treatment of tools. The using of powder materials. The design of tools from the point of view to their longer service life.

Entry knowledge

Knowledge of technology of machining and forming. Knowledge of engineering drawing, rules for fitting, kinds of machining materials. Knowledge of basic stress analysis and technological steps.

Rules for evaluation and completion of the course

Course-unit credit requirements:
Participation in the exercises.
designing a dimensional tool for the given component
The examination: consists of a written exam and then oral part.
The teacher may in justified cases set a special condition.

Attendance at all exercises is necessary . Missed lessons may be compensated for via a make-up tasks by arrangement with the teacher.

Aims

The aim is to make students familiar with the design of forming tools for cold and hot sheet metal forming and solid forming. They will master the rules for designing forming tools. Design of material for the construction of forming tools.
Thorough knowledge of forming tools design for cutting, bending, straightening,drawing, upsetting, extrusion and forging.
