Aims

Understanding basic physical principles and mathematically described consequences usable in pulse converters. Understanding principles of operation as well as some technical details of basic DC/DC, DC/AC and AC/DC converters used in drives of electric vehicles. Understanding principles and consequences regarding feedback control systems. Understanding basic control algorithms of DC, induction, PMSM, BLDC and SRM including the possibility of the generator regime (regenerative braking).
Student can understand the problems and calculation of true power in typical cases existing in transistor converters. He can calculate power loss on a diode, MOSFET and IGBT.

Student can understand parameters of power switching semiconductors - namely power diodes, MOSFETs and IGBTs.

Student knows the function of basic DC/DC converters, he can draw voltage and current waveforms in these converters, he can calculate technical parameters, he can understand the consequences between switching frequency, switching losses and current ripple.

Student can understand the principle of operation and schematics of one-phase and three-phase converters, ways of their control and principles of sinusoidal PWM creation.

Student can understand basic principles and important consequences of feedback control, he knows exactly the properties and ways of application of P, I and PI controller in the field of an electric vehicle drive.

Student knows common control algorithms of DC, induction, synchronous and reluctance motors including their generator regime (regenerative braking).
