Learning outcomes of the course unit

Student gains basic knowledge of control of water runoff from the river basin with the help of water management systems
and ability to set up models of operative control of supply and protection functions of water management system.

Prerequisites

Basic knowledge of mathematics, physics, hydraulics and hydrology

Co-requisites

Reservoirs and water management systems, applied hydrology, operational hydrology, geographic information systems, artificial intelligence methods, operational and system analysis.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Students attend 13 basic lectures. In the exercises, students will complete several basic tasks using computers and available software according to the assignment. At the end of the course, they prepare a test covering the entire scope of the lectured material and take an oral exam.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

To successfully complete the course, the student must meet the following conditions: - attendance at exercises and submission of individual exercises, - writing tests, - oral exam.

Course curriculum

1. - 2. Dynamic properties of water management systems, common control model and its modification
3. - 4. Control of water management system in real time (operative control), regulation circuit, in-line, on-line and off-line type of control
5. - 6. Water management dispatchink, structure, collecting, transmission and processing of data, practice examples
