Forensic Engineering - General Methodology

FAST-DVB076Acad. year: 2022/2023

Activity of experts (history, present regulations, subject practicing expert activity). Discharge of the expert activity:
- Prime acts of the expert, expert’s share in a proof detention.
- Scheme of the expert evidence and expertise.
- Systematic complex concept of the experts evidence and expertise (systematic analysis of the accident’s process, array of hypotheses, array of traces, array of reflection, array of the damage equivalence, application of the logic rules, presumption of innocence in the application of the technical analysis).
- Methods of expert’s analysis (reverse calculation method of the accident process, method of narrowing of the limits, analysis of the processes in the time and space, law and engineering confrontation, analysis of the break down).
- Application of regulations in the expert evidence, probability in the expertise.
specificity of the expert activity in the individual sorts of proceeding (criminal, civil, administrative),
teamwork at expertise.
- Expert activity experience, expert evidence defects.
Introduction to special methodology of forensic engineering (civil engineering, mechanical engineering, analysis of traffic accidents, evaluation of property, assessment of financial damage).

Department

Institute of Structural Economics and Management (EKR)

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Systematic knowledge of the Forensic Engineering subject and the practical skill of applying solutions to negative phenomena in engineering practice.

Prerequisites

Special input knowledge is not required

Co-requisites

They are not.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Individual group consultations and irregular seminars with the aim of preparing a separate assignment from the core parts of the subject's curriculum.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

The knowledge and skills acquired in the course will be tested on theoretical and practical skills when solving practical questions regarding the assessment of negative phenomena, the development of a sample expert opinion fitting the field of study, etc.
