The course is designed to provide an overview of the legal aspects of the creation and use of ICT. In the absence of any other legal education, it does not teach students the basics of general law, but maps all areas of law that are specific to ICT on the basis of the principle from the specific to the general.
In particular, the content covers current topics such as law in cyberspace, protection of personal data, electronic documents and signatures, introduction to eGovernment, protection of intellectual property, cyber security law, cybercrime.

Course curriculum

The course is designed to provide an overview of the legal aspects of the creation and use of ICT. In the absence of any other legal education, it does not teach students the basics of general law, but maps all areas of law that are specific to ICT on the basis of the principle from the specific to the general.
Course content:
1. Introduction - law in cyberspace, the problem of jurisdiction and applicable law, which laws apply - overview.
2. Personal data protection - GDPR regulation, special regulations governing personal data protection - on banks, on health services, draft new law on personal data protection.
3. Electronic documents and signatures - eIDAS Regulation, Trust Services Act; electronic signature, electronic seal and time stamp, certificates, selected provisions of the Archives Act, deeds versus electronic documents.
4. eGovernment - Act on ISVS, Act on basic registers, Act on electronic acts and authorized conversion of documents (data boxes), electronic identification.
5. Other regulations - Act on Certain Information Society Services, Act on Electronic Communications, etc.
6. Protection of intellectual property - copyright and industrial rights.
7. Cybersecurity - the CCL and implementing regulations.
8. Cybercrime - facts under the Criminal Code.
9. Cybercrime - detection and investigation of cybercrime (perpetrators, expertise and expert opinions), proving what can be faked and what can be trusted.
10. ICT law and the legal order - generally binding legal regulations in relation to ICT law: the Civil Code and its application (protection of personality, legal acts, contracts, etc.)

The main objective of the course is to provide the student with a basic orientation in the legal aspects of the creation and use of ICT, both in the field of public and private law.
