Testing of Aircraft

The content of the course is the issue of testing with a focus on aircraft flight performance, flight characteristics and atmospheric flight load of fixed-bearing surfaces. Included are both equipped with propeller aircraft, and jet propulsion units. It is also the issue of content and strength of laboratory tests. The course includes the theoretical foundations of measurement determining the quantities and specific methods of measurement. Processing and interpretation of measured data.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Students will obtain theoretical and practical knowledge of Flight Testing of Aircraft oriented to laboratory tests as well as flight performance verification and flying qualities of atmospheric aircrafts.

Prerequisites

The basics of mechanics, technical measurement of strength, pressure, temperature, length and time. Evaluation and processing of measured data. Setting measured errors. The basic of flight mechanics.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The course is taught through lectures explaining the basic principles and theory of the discipline.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

The subject is finished by an oral exam – an interview with supervisor or given examiner.
Student must present a written essay about professional discussion on a given topic in extend given by supervisor. Evaluation fulfils the University requirements.

Aims

The aim is to teach students the necessary theoretical foundations of measurement in laboratory testing of aircraft structures, aircraft performance and flight characteristics of atmospheric aircraft. To get acquainted with modern methodologies of measurement, evaluation and interpretation of measurements.

This is not regular study. The course covers individual self-study under supervision of supervisor. The study is controlled with regular and irregular consultations with supervisor or supervisor specialist.
