Learning outcomes of the course unit

Students will be able to chose and apply shanking technologies, and will have an overview of physical principles and side-effects of the forming and machining process. They will be made familiar with the approaches to basic methods and ways of shanking and machining. The course will enable them to combine different engineering technologies. This knowledge is necessary to take into account technical as well as economical aspects.

Prerequisites

The course is a follow-up to the knowledge acquired in the field of physics of solids, i.e. deformation behaviour of materials, connection among structure, properties of metallic and non-metallic materials.

Co-requisites

Not applicable.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The course is taught through lectures explaining the basic principles and theory of the discipline. Teaching is suplemented by practical laboratory work.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

The course-unit credit requirements: Obligatory attendance at lessons, active work and submitting of all the protocols. Absence may be substituted for by the agreement with the teacher.
The course is finalized with the course-unit credit. The final exam will be composed of written part. - It is classificated to the ECTS grading scale.

Aims

The objective is for students to manage principles of methods applied for shanking and machining connected with the given technologies. They will be familiar with materials treated by shanking, and with the technology of basic cutting and forming methods with respect to the interaction machine-tool-workpiece. They will be acquainted with basic ways and methods of cutting and forming including all the respective areas. The course will help them to built up a basis and acquire skills necessary for further deepening og knowledge in the field.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Attendance at lessons is checked, absence has to be excused. Protocols have to be delivered continuously. In the case of non-apologize it will be replaced by separately search.
Attendance in lectures is recommended.
Attendance in exercises is compulsory.
The attendance to the seminar is regularly checked and the participation in the lesson is recorded.
