Project – Building Constructions (S)

FAST-BHA010Acad. year: 2020/2021

Throughout the practices of this particular course the students are to work on part of the building design documentation for building permit application of an individually assigned building. The drawings and reports they make should respect the latest amendments of Building code and accompanying decrees as well as the latest standards. The individually assigned building should have the following parameters: detached or semi-detached object, simple layout, partial or full basement, at least 2 above ground storeys. Thus, it can handle about a detached or semi-detached house with or without a premise, a residential building, etc. While the students are working on the building design documentations (drawings, reports) they are to demonstrate their knowledge regarding building construction, structural mechanics, building physics, … - therefore the knowledge they obtained by studying at the university. Albeit that’s not all, with this approach the students will acquire some skills which are going to be helpful to them while working on their final works, i.e. on their bachelor projects, as well as when they are going to be employed. In general, some skill related to individual work or work in groups.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Ability to complete the design of smaller simple buildings - disposition, structural preliminary design, architectural concept and graphical presentation in accordance with valid design standards.
Attachments must be sorted in a folder: Technical Report, Situation layout 1:200, plans of all floors 1:100, Cross sections 1:100 through the object (or through staircase and through roof shape - the teacher decides; Front of views 1:100

Prerequisites

It is assumed that the student has at the beginning of the subject knowledge from BH001 Building Construction 1, BH052 Building Construction 2, BH003 Building Construction 3, BH004 Building Construction 4, BH007 Introduction to Buildings‘ Design 1, BH051 Computer Graphics and BH057 Acoustics and Daylighting. At the same time, the application of knowledge from the parallel course BH011 Fire Safety of Buildings and knowledge of the fundamentals of constructive geometry, structural mechanics, statics of building structures, elasticity and plasticity, soil mechanics, the design of foundations and the design of concrete, metal and wooden constructions are expected.
