Learning outcomes of the course unit

Obtaining knowledge about legislation in chemistry, dealing with chemical substances and first aid bases, information on the activities of individual faculties at the faculty, interconnection of the acquired information with the application sphere. Obtaining knowledge from the field of technical applications of chemical engineering and technical understanding of chemical processes in practice.

The input requirement is that students work with chemicals.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The subject is taught in the form of lectures once every 14 days. The LMS Moodle e-learning system is available to lecturers and students.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

To obtain the credit, you need to pass a written test from the introductory lecture on legislation in the field of chemical treatment. The minimum number of points for successful completion of the course is 13 points out of a total of 15 points. The test is available on e-learning.

Aims

In the first part of the subject the aim is to give basic information, which generally deals with the handling of chemical substances (legislation, first aid, safety data sheets) in the form of a lecture, to introduce students to the rules concerning the treatment of chemical substances at FCH BUT.
In the second part of the course there are short presentations of individual departments of the faculty, where the students can get acquainted with the focus both in the teaching area and in the research area of ​​individual institutes. Presentations will include presentations of practitioners who can complement the applicability of theoretical foundations in practice. According to the study program, the FCH strategic industrial partners are selected thematically.
Time excursions will also include excursions to selected businesses. Students will be able to penetrate into the field of chemical engineering applications and significantly motivate them for technical understanding of chemical processes.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

To obtain the credit it is necessary to pass the test based on knowledge based on the introductory lecture focused on the legislation in the area of handling of chemical substances. Attendance at lectures is recommended for both full-time and part-time students.
