Diploma Seminar (S-PST)

At the seminar, the student will prepare a study of the building construction of the building, which will serve as a basis for preparing the documentation for the implementation of the project, including analysis of possible options.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

The aim of the course Diploma seminar is to prepare students for further continuation of the course project in the 2nd year master's degree program and for the processing of the thesis. Student prepare two studies of buildings for different purposes. For these buildings prepare a floor plans, one cut and views, and the situation. Graphic part complement the text part in the form of technical reports on the construction part.

Prerequisites

The prerequisite for graduating are theoretical knowledge of building structures overview and the ability to combine knowledge from previous courses Civil Engineering, Science buildings, concrete and masonry structures, technological structures, wooden buildings, Building Physics and Building Materials.

Co-requisites

It is assumed theoretical construction and design overview and the ability to combine knowledge from previous study to the composition of an optimal building design as a whole.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Student is guided to individual work. Utilizes basic knowledge obtained by studying of building constructions, catalogs from the manufacturers of building materials and products and follow the instructions and consultation with the teacher. Consultation and defence of suggestions.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Evaluation criterion is the the effectiveness of solutions, its application, a graphical treatise of the documentation, individual approach to the assignment and its rationale for choosing the appropriate method of solution. Student gets a course credit on following regular of consultation and elaboration of individual attachments.

Aim of the course Diploma seminar is to prepare students for further continuation of the course project CH06 Specialized (S-PST) in the winter semester of 2nd year master's degree program for the processing of the thesis.
