Learning outcomes of the course unit

The result of teaching subject CC52 is knowledge of selected chapters from hydrochemistry of underground, surface, and atmospheric waters. Students will be introduced to fundamentals of chemical equilibria. They will manage the chemistry of inorganic and organic substances naturally occurring in water. They will have an overview of the main groups of pollutants endangering the environment. The knowledge of the processes to which these substances are subject in waters will follow. In the laboratory sessions, students will learn the principles of sampling and the selected analytical methods.

Prerequisites

Chemical nomenclature, basic chemical rules, theory of acids and bases, compilation of chemical equations, stoichiometric calculations, concentration and its expression, fundamentals of hydrochemistry and analytical chemistry.

Co-requisites

None.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Basic teaching methods in this subject are lectures and laboratory sessions. Part of the laboratory sessions are students´ presentations aimed at selected hydrochemical topics and measurements on the locality, focused at sampling and in situ methods.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

The conditions of getting a credit are attendance of laboratory sessions in terms of study and examination regulations, protocols of all completed sessions, and a presentation aimed at a selected hydrochemical topic.
The exam has a form of a written test.
