Legislation in Chemistry I

Legislation in the field of handling chemical substances (Law 356/2003, Coll. of Law, dealing with Handling chemical substances and preparations; Law 258/2000, Coll. of Law, dealing with Protection of Public Health, Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 of the European Parliament and of the Council, Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council) and other public notices. Safety sheets, their use for handling chemicals. Handling of chemical wastes. The basics of first pre-medical help. Guidance on the handling of chemical substances at FCH BUT in Brno. In addition to a lecture on legislation, motivational seminars will be held by representatives of individual institutes.

Knowledge in chemical legislation, information on the activities of the various departments at the faculty

The basic requirement is the fact that students handle chemicals

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The course uses teaching methods in form of Lecture - 1 teaching hour per week. Furthermore, seminars, presenting individual departments of faculty. The e-learning system (LMS Moodle) is available to teachers and students.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

To obtain a credit it is necessary to pass the test for a minimum number of 13 points out of a total of 15.

- Lecture giving principle information about handling chemical substances (legislation, first aid, safety sheets) for students in 1st term
- Rules that were approved by authorities in the field of handling chemical substances at the Faculty of Chemistry , University of Technology, Brno
- To learn students the system of work with chemical substances
- In the course presentation of individual departments of the faculty

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

To obtain a credit it is necessary to pass the test. Participation in the motivation seminars of individual institutes and lectures by practitioners is strongly recommended for students of full-time study form. Students in combined form of study are recommended.
