Learning outcomes of the course unit

Students will acquire more in-depth knowledge and skills in the area of the dimensioning of elements, parts and joints of steel structures. They will be able to design construction details in connection with statics design. They will thus be able to produce a detailed and thorough design for a steel structure according to assigned instructions.

Prerequisites

Rules for design of metal and timber structures, static action of bearing systems. Elements and connections of metal structures, elements and connections of timber structures, structural mechanics.

Co-requisites

Extension of knowledge of structural mechanics and steel structures; extension and application of knowledge related to issues concerning the modelling of engineering structures.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The course is taught through practical classes and self-study assignments. Attendance at practical classes is compulsory.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

A precondition for successful completion of the subject is the production of a detailed and thorough design of a steel structure based on provided instructions.

Course curriculum

1. Choosing of the topic of the diploma project, methods and forms of elaboration.
2. – 9. Study of literature, technical rules and standarts, documenations of realized structures, consultations.
10. Prezentace rozpracované diplomové práce.

Work placements
