The course Business Management focuses of management. It developes this topic of modern approaches, which are in management implemented now and in near future. Short historical excursion. Approaches of acknowledged theoreticians.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Students will be able to complex identify and critical analyse of risks, implement and evaluate assumed actions in firms and organisations.
Students will learn modern conception and application of management, including historical context. Leadership, time management, process management, application of some management models.

Prerequisites

General awareness of corporate management.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of VUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Conditions of awarding the course-unit credit:
1. Active participation in exercises during presentations followed by discussion over seminar work
2. Successful completion of a credit test.
3. Successful elaboration of semester work in preset deadline.
4. Successful elaboration of case studies.


Students have an opportunity to acquire points for:
- individual semester work
- elaboration of tasks related to the studies
- elaboration of partial tasks
- control test


Conditions for passing an exam:
The course-unit credit awarding is a necessary condition for passing an exam.
Knowledge of taught topics and their practical application.
Form of examination: written and oral. Oral examination is applied if the result is irresolute. About application of oral examination decides teacher.

Aims

Students will learn theoretical fundamentals and methodical approaches to management, fundamental concepts, structuralisation and practical use with risk – engineering focus. Objective of the course is to recommend necessary approaches for management problem solving, first of all for business organisations.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Active participation in seminars regarding presented topics, participation in discussion, quality presentation of semester work on given topic, knowledge test.

In case of excused absence from seminars, the teacher can set an additional condition if appropriate, usually elaboration of partial written task.
