Technology of Biopolymers

Technology, sources, and usage of polysaccharides: Starch, Hyaluronic acid, Cellulose, Chitin, Agar, Carrageenan, Dextran. Technology, sources, and usage of proteins: Collagen, Keratin, Casein, Elastin.

Aims

The objectives of the course „Technology of biopolymers“are: Basic survey on manufacture, treatment and properties of common biopolymers, mainly polysaccharides and proteins. An emphasis is put on the physico-chemical principles of industrial technologies. Macromolecular chemistry explanation of properties of raw materials, semi finished products and final products.
