Learning outcomes of the course unit

Enhancing the stedents' knowledge of the current art scene, both in its practical, theoretical, and methodological approach. They wil also learn about the proces of writing a dissertation thesis.

Prerequisites

Education in art, basic experience of the art practices.

Course curriculum

A block of lectures and seminars, in which several PhD. students will present 3 - 4 ot their own topics.

The Possibilities of Interpretation
Intermedia art. Presentation and representation. Post-production in art. Artistic vs. institutional functioning.
The couse directly corresponds with the initiation of the <<REWIND project which presents couples of lecturers, always comprising of the artist who presents their own portfolio, and a theoretician/curator, who reflects the art during the lecture. The total of nine couples will be presented. (J. Císař - J. Thýn; 13. 10. V. Beskid (SK) - M. Kvetán; T. Pospiszyl - M. Pěchouček; P. Hanáková - S. Mikyta; E. Jeřábková - J. Kovanda; M. Pokorný - V. Skrepl, ad.).
The cycle of lectures enables students an importatn confrontation with current trends both in the Czech and Slovak art scene. The content of the course facilitates direct linking to practical exercises or workshops.
The project has been implemented by the Moravian Gallery since 2010 and continuation is expected in 2011.

Aims

Students attending this course will have the opportunity of confronting current art issues seen through the prism of active creative strategies; at the same time, they will learn about current Czech and international artists.
