BUT goes out to meet Slovak applicants. Students themselves will introduce the university

Slovak high school students often choose Czech universities for their further studies, and thanks to its proximity, vibrant student life, and wide range of study programs, Brno is the first choice for many. Brno University of Technology (BUT) will therefore head to Slovak cities to present its faculties, study opportunities, and the unique atmosphere of Brno’s technical university to prospective students.

The autumn wave of BUT’s applicant campaign will kick off with post-secondary education fairs in Slovakia. The university will be represented by current students, who will introduce high schoolers to study programs, the admissions process, as well as sports, student teams, and leisure activities. Thanks to direct contact with students, high schoolers will have the opportunity to ask anything they are curious about, experience the atmosphere of university life, and gain an authentic perspective on studying in Brno.

Since Slovak students make up about one fifth of the total student population at BUT and their interest in studying at the Brno university continues to grow, Slovak fairs have become an integral part of the university’s campaign. “Slovakia is an important destination for us, which is why we are once again meeting with students there this year,” confirmed Helena Sadílková, coordinator of applicant events at BUT.

BUT representatives will meet prospective students at Gaudeamus in Nitra (September 23–24) and Gaudeamus in Bratislava (October 7–9). In addition, the university will again take part in the Roadshow, a series of half-day events aimed at reaching as many high school students as possible across Slovak cities and providing them with information about higher education opportunities. BUT will join three stops: Banská Bystrica (September 25), Prešov (October 1), and Košice (October 2).

“Gaudeamus fairs are among the most visited events, aimed at creating spaces for meetings between representatives of educational institutions and potential students. We included the Roadshow in our activities for the first time last year, and since it proved successful, we will continue to use this way of reaching applicants this year as well,” added Sadílková, noting that less than a month after the Slovak events, BUT will also present itself at Gaudeamus in Brno, the largest post-secondary education fair in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

Prospective students can also meet BUT representatives in other cities at smaller regional post-secondary education events or directly at high schools, where university students present BUT. As part of the autumn campaign, applicants will encounter materials from the new campaign, which will fully launch at the beginning of November together with the opening of applications for most study programs. Exceptions are the Faculty of Fine Arts and the Faculty of Architecture, which require talent exams. Applications for these faculties are open from October to November, and until mid-January 2026 in the case of the Faculty of Architecture.

BUT opens the door to studying technical, natural science, economic, and artistic fields, and has long been ranked among the most prestigious universities in the Czech Republic.
