Brno University of Technology (BUT) will host the Annual Meeting (CAM) of the prestigious European network of technical and research universities, CESAER, from October 22 to 24, 2025, which will also include the 39th General Assembly of the network's members. The meeting will focus on international partnerships for a sustainable future. The decision was made by the network's board during the last CAM in October 2024 in Glasgow.Illustrative photo: Participants of conference about innovation which was part of the CAM 2024 in Glasgow. | Autor: CESAERCESAER is a European network of leading universities with strong scientific and technological profiles, headquartered in Leuven, Belgium. Currently, the network comprises 55 member universities, including BUT. The members advocate for excellence in higher education, professional training, research, and innovation. Their efforts aim to advance a knowledge-driven society with a sustainable future and to enhance European competitiveness through science and technology.
"I am delighted that we succeeded with our application and have the opportunity to organize this significant event. We expect the participation of 150 representatives from leading European technical universities, where many current and important topics, such as sustainability issues and the promotion of STEM studies, will resonate," said BUT Rector Ladislav Janíček regarding the selection of the university as the host.
Earlier this year, in April, VUT welcomed representatives from the CESAER network when it hosted a meeting of the Task Force Learning and Teaching in Brno. The agenda included discussions on supporting technical education, the roles and governance models of European university alliances, proposals for greater student involvement in the association's activities, and aspects of doctoral education.
The last CAM, together with the 38th General Assembly of the network, was hosted in mid-October by the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, Scotland. The main topic was innovation.
The program and registration details for the Brno CAM will be published in late spring 2025.
