The opening speech was given by the Rector of BUT and current President of the EULiST alliance, Ladislav Janíček, who emphasised the importance of international cooperation in education and the support of mobility as a key tool for the development of the university environment. He was followed by the Vice-Rector for Continuing Education and Quality, Vítězslav Máša, and Tereza Formáčková, representing OINT, who introduced the participants to the programme and presented the objectives for the week.
The motto of the meeting was ‘Pathways to successful and quality mobilities in the EULiST Alliance’ and the proceedings took place in three thematic sections divided into individual days – from initial planning through expert workshops to a joint summary of the results and the future direction of the alliance. The programme focused on the alliance's areas of Student Engagement (Task 1.2), Recognition Framework (Task 3.5) and Erasmus Task Force. Each topic was addressed by a team composed of representatives from the individual partner universities – a total of 30 guests gathered in Brno for this purpose. In addition to OINT employees, representatives of faculties who have been involved in the development of EULiST activities for a long time also participated on behalf of BUT. As part of Task 1.2 (Student Engagement), participants focused on planning the EULiST Student Conference, defining EULiST mobility and opportunities for greater student involvement in inter-university activities. The outcome is a set of proposals for the active participation of BUT students in upcoming alliance events, particularly in the Blended Intensive Programmes (BIP) format.
Discussions within Task 3.5 (Recognition Framework) focused on setting up a compatible system for recognising mobility across alliance universities and creating a framework for the automatic recognition of selected courses. The aim is to simplify and standardise the process of recognising Erasmus mobility within the EULiST alliance.
The Erasmus Task Force focused on the aforementioned BIPs – their definition, management, challenges and plans to create a framework for their effective implementation within the alliance. Communication between Erasmus offices, the collection and harmonisation of mobility data, the standardisation of definitions and the monitoring of disadvantaged student groups were also discussed. A revision of the multilateral IIA (Interinstitutional Agreement) was also proposed, and further ETF face-to-face meetings were planned, including proposals for future BIPs and Staff Weeks in 2025 and beyond. Each topic was addressed by a team composed of representatives from individual partner universities. | Author: Václav Koníček
In addition to the professional programme, foreign participants had the opportunity to establish contacts during informal activities – for example, during a social evening in the rector's hall or during an organised tour of the historic centre of Brno, which was attended by most of the guests.
“Staff Week was very successful. We managed to connect all member universities of the EULiST alliance and address key issues. We have specific agreed outcomes and defined steps to create a framework for the recognition of courses. Students and staff now have clear options for mobility, and students are already preparing for the upcoming conference. We were very pleased with the positive feedback – according to students and staff, it was one of the best Staff Weeks they have ever attended," said Lenka Dziková, event coordinator for OINT. EULiST connects ten European countries, brings together 20,000 employees and has 200,000 students. The alliance, whose motto is ‘linking society and technology,’ provides opportunities for sharing expertise and best practices and for achieving synergies in inter-university cooperation.
