TU Brno Racing rounded off the 2025/2026 season with a major success. At Formula Student Alpe Adria in Croatia, BUT students secured podium finishes in two disciplines with their Dragon E6 electric race car. They took first place in Engineering Design and third in Cost and Manufacturing, finishing sixth overall out of 42 competing teams after a thrilling race weekend.
At the Bugatti Rimac Test Track, the team faced both fierce competition and technical challenges from 18 to 23 August. After successfully passing scrutineering, the students discovered a battery problem. The fault prevented the car from starting in two events – Acceleration and Skidpad – and threatened the team’s continued participation in the dynamic events.
While part of the team worked on repairs, a series of successes in the static events followed. In Business Plan, where the students presented potential investors with a business model based on a component from their race car, they finished 10th. An even stronger result came in Engineering Design, where TU Brno Racing took first place after defending the engineering solutions behind their car. This was followed by third place in Cost and Manufacturing.
The team did not give up on racing either. They managed to fix the battery fault, the car passed the required technical checks again, and on Saturday it was able to compete in Autocross. The fifth-fastest time secured the Brno students a place among the leading teams in Endurance, the competition’s flagship event. In this final 22-kilometre race, the drivers kept pace with the frontrunners and once again finished fifth. TU Brno Racing thus finished sixth overall.
“Despite all the complications we faced during the competition, we left with our heads held high, having gained valuable experience, lasting memories and two trophies that will remind us that a whole year spent preparing our race car is worth it,” said Kristína Sunčana Škodlerová, team leader of TU Brno Racing, reflecting on the team’s success.Photos: FS Alpe Adria, TU Brno RacingText source: TU Brno Racing
