BUT to Host the 2026 Czech University Games. Hundreds of Student Athletes to Compete in Brno

Brno will soon become the centre of university sport. Brno University of Technology (BUT) will host the Czech University Games for the fifth time, bringing together students from higher education institutions across the country to compete in 21 sports disciplines. Academic titles will also be contested by athletes preparing for European and World University competitions.


The 24th edition of the Czech University Games will take place from 21 to 26 June 2026 at BUT. Academic titles will be awarded in 21 sports, and the event will feature athletes heading to European and World University competitions.


The full list of 21 sports included in the Czech University Games comprises: aerobics, athletics, badminton, baseball, 3x3 basketball, bouldering, frisbee, women’s futsal, handball, judo, karate, nohejbal, orienteering, paddleboarding, swimming, finswimming, beach volleyball, movement routines, fencing, squash and table tennis.


In individual and team sports for which no qualification tournaments are held, athletes qualify for the Games directly. Participation requirements are available in the regulations published on the official Games website: www.ceskeakademickehry.cz.


In team sports, some teams had one more step to complete before arriving in Brno. Qualification tournaments were held for women’s handball, men’s handball, frisbee and women’s futsal, and were completed by the end of May.
