Brno University of Technology (BUT) joins the appeal by Palacký University and Post Bellum to support Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. One of Ukraine’s most important universities is facing serious power outages due to ongoing attacks on energy infrastructure, which threaten teaching, research and the basic operation of the institution.
The aim of the public fundraiser is to purchase a diesel generator that will enable the university in Kyiv to operate even during blackouts. The generator can be dispatched in the coming days and will help ensure the continuation of education and scientific work under extraordinarily challenging conditions.
Universities are places of knowledge, freedom and responsibility towards society. In times of crisis, they also play an irreplaceable role in sustaining education, critical thinking and social resilience. Colleagues and students in Kyiv are fulfilling this role despite daily uncertainty, power outages and security risks.
BUT is supporting the fundraiser by sharing the information and promoting academic solidarity without borders. Every contribution – small or large – helps ensure that teaching and research at the Ukrainian university can continue even under the conditions of war.Get involved too. Together, we can help ensure that education, research and the values of humanity endure even in times of war.The “Energy for the University in Kyiv” fundraiser runs until 25 February.
