Wellbeing Plant Summer School: A tech summer for girls who want to create, discover and grow

Are you looking for a meaningful summer program for your daughter that will be both fun and educational? The Plant Wellbeing Summer School at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Communication at Brno University of Technology (FEEC BUT) offers girls aged 12–17 a unique opportunity to connect creativity, nature, and modern technology in a fun and accessible way.

What can the girls expect?

Over five days, participants will experience what it’s like to be a junior developer – from design to realization of their own project. They will design a smart flowerpot that can detect when a plant needs water. They will create a soil moisture sensor, program it, and use 3D printing to craft their own custom casing. The entire week will focus on discovery, teamwork, and support – no prior experience is required; everything will be taught step by step.

Technology in practice and extra experiences

The summer school also includes company visits to places like Honeywell and EG.D, where the girls will get a behind-the-scenes look at technologies that impact everyday life. They will meet professionals from the field and see what a career in technical disciplines can look like.

Practical information

  • When: August 11–15, 2025

  • Where: Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Communication, BUT, Technická 10, Brno

  • Who: Girls aged 12–17

  • Time: Every day from 9:00 AM to approximately 4:00 PM

  • Provided: Morning snack, lunch, afternoon snack

  • Fee: 3,660 CZK (includes all materials, excursions, and meals)
