In QS World University Rankings: Sustainability 2025 BUT has achieved 477th position among 1794 evaluated universities. In Czech Republic BUT ranked on the 5th place (out of 12 evaluated).

QS Sustainability Rankings evaluate universities based on their contribution to sustainable development in three main areas:

• Environmental Impact – recognizes universities' efforts to protect and improve the environment, whether through research in areas such as ecology and climatology, strategic focus on mitigating climate change impacts, or the impact of university graduates on creating a more sustainable world.
• Social Impact – assesses universities' efforts to build a better and more equitable society, whether through equality measures, knowledge sharing and learning from others, successful graduate employment, and ensuring quality study experiences for students.
• Good Governance – recognizes competent leadership, transparent and evidence-based decision-making, democratic and open procedures, and willingness to delegate authority to relevant management levels within the institution.

QS World University Rankings: Sustainability

In THE University Impact Rankings 2025 BUT has achieved 1001st to 1500th position out of 2526 evaluated universities. In Czech Republic BUT reached 7th to 9th place (out of 13).

The THE University Impact Rankings are based on the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and measure how universities contribute to achieving these 17 global goals. The rankings evaluate research, teaching, community activities, and university governance in relation to individual SDGs. To participate in the rankings, universities must submit data for at least four of these goals, with SDG 17 being mandatory for all. VUT has reported data (for the first time, rankings published in 2025) for four specific goals:

• SDG 7 - Affordable and Clean Energy: Ensuring access to affordable, reliable, sustainable, and modern energy for all
• SDG 8 - Decent work and economic growth: Promoting sustained, inclusive, and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment, and decent work for all
• SDG 9 - Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure:Building resilient infrastructure, promoting inclusive and sustainable industrialization, and fostering innovation
• SDG 17 - Partnerships for the Goals: Strengthening the means of implementation and revitalizing the global partnership for sustainable development.
