Artificial Intelligence and Security: Does the Future (Not) Belong to AI?

As traditional partners of the Week for Digital Czech Republic event, we invite you to an afternoon full of interesting tips, practical information, demonstrations, and discussions. The event is the largest educational project in the Czech Republic in the field of digitalization. We have decided to focus on very current topics this year:

Programme BLOCK I (16:30- 18:15)

• Welcome – Pavel Václavek (CEITEC BUT in Brno, head of Cybernetics and Robotics research group)
• Cybersecurity and quantum threats – Jan Hajný (FEEC BUT, Committee for Cybersecurity Management BUT) What are the challenges and what possible solutions do we have related to cyber attacks carried out by quantum computers. Technology demonstrators developed at FEEC BUT will be available for viewing.
• DeepFakes and how to recognize them – Kamil Malinka, Igor Szöke (FIT BUT) We will explore the impacts of AI on cybersecurity with regard to generative AI. We will introduce DeepFakes technologies, their development and consequences. How do DeepFakes technologies work? What opportunities and threats do they bring and what ethical challenges do they present to society. We will show detection methods and strategies for ensuring digital security and personal identity protection. Everyone can try image DeepFakes firsthand.

BLOCK II (18:30-20:00)

• What about women and AI? – Monika Ptáčníková (co-founder of Czechitas) What challenges do women face and how do they manage to adapt to new technologies? What opportunities can they use to expand their knowledge, whether they are currently on maternity leave or thinking about changing their career direction. The situation will be explained by the co-founder of Czechitas, a platform for IT education for women.
• AI Ethics – Luděk Buchta (CEITEC BUT) The ethics of artificial intelligence is a field whose importance is constantly growing. Although new technologies are usually under human supervision, in some specific areas machines have already surpassed human capabilities and their autonomy will expand in the future. AI ethics focuses on ensuring that the development and use of artificial intelligence takes place in a way that is beneficial to society as a whole. We will also open the topic of legislation and European regulation The AI Act.

Note: The inspirational afternoon also includes tours of the Industry 4.0 laboratory – RICAIP Testbed Brno operated by CEITEC BUT in Brno, which will take place from 15:00-16:00.
