Step-By-Step: How to apply to BUT
Evans Liyambo

You can become a BUT student by taking the following 5 easy steps.
1. Choose a study program
Using the following link (https://www.vutbr.cz/en/students/programmes), choose the study program that you are interested in. The BUT website is well organised and provides detailed information about all the study programmes offered. For studies in English, make sure you have the webpage in English. After you click on the study option menu, select degree studies in English, click on the faculty you are interested in and select the program. Each study program is thoroughly described and contains information such as the key learning outcomes, graduate profile and the entire study plan. You can also click on the individual courses to see their entire outline and how they are taught. After you have chosen the study program you are interested in, you can go ahead and start the application.
2. Start the actual application
The application procedure begins by filling in an electronic application (https://www.vutbr.cz/eprihlaska/en). Before filling it in, check for the deadline of submission so that you may have enough time for the entire process without rushing. The deadline is usually around the end of March. After filling the application, submit it and make a payment fee of EUR 24 to validate it.

3. Submitting the application and other relevant documents
The electronic application should then be printed out and signed. Attach the following documents to your application:
- a certified copy of secondary school certificate for bachelor’s study applicants, BSc. or BEng. certificate for master ‘s study applicants etc.
- A certificate (nostrifikační doložka) to validate foreign education and qualifications, if applicable. If you do not have a certificate of recognition, you can request for the assessment of education compatibility at a fee of CZK 700 (https://www.vutbr.cz/en/study-options/recognition#assessment).
The application together with the attached relevant documents should be sent by post or (preferably a registered postal service) to the relevant faculty by mid-April.
4. Entrance exams
After meeting all the requirements, you will be invited for an entrance exam. The time, date and topics of the exam are communicated well in advance, at least a month prior to the exam. That gives you ample time to prepare for it.
You can be exempted from the entrance exams if you had exceptional grades in your previous study. You will of course have to provide proof of the courses and actual scores.

5. Tuition fees and enrolment
After you have successfully passed the entrance exams, the process is almost over. What awaits is making a payment of your tuition fees through the bank to the relevant faculty account and deliver proof of payment by 1st September. With that done, you will be ready for enrolment to BUT!
