Profile

PhD study of study branch Civil Engineering Management is focused on the scientific training, the methodology of the scientific work and on the development of knowledge in the area of the real investments, the project management, the space economics, the value analysis in construction, the quality management, the marketing management and the risk management. The scientific training of this study branch is based on the mastering of initial theoretical disciplines of the scientific base and theoretical disciplines of the appropriate orientation. The graduate of the PhD study of the study branch Civil Engineering Management is prepared for the asserting himself in the development and scientific activity in the area of appropriate orientation of the study branch and also for the solving of difficult and unusual problems connected with the cost management, the management of the time and the value of investment construction projects and globally with the structural firm's management.
The continuous and active scientific activity is also the supposition of the possible staying of graduates as academic employees at universities.

Issued topics of Doctoral Study Program

. round (applications submitted from to )

  1. Diagnosis of construction company by using its elasticity on macroeconomic changes

The main scope of this issue is the ability of construction company to deal with crisis phenomena. The function of the successful management of any enterprise is affected by many macro- and micro-economic factors. Elasticity of construction company is seen as a readiness to macroeconomic fluctuations, particularly to a decline of the contracts in the construction market, and at the same time as a readiness to subsequent recovery potentially supported e.g. by means of macroeconomic interventions. The solutions to that issue should bring methodological recommendations for business economy in construction.

Supervisor: Puchýř Bohumil, doc. Ing., CSc.

  2. Enterprise performance management system in construction industry

Student has to describe modern methods of enterprise performance measurement. The objective of thesis is to design the system of performance measurement in construction company using Key Performance Indicators. The aim of proposed system utilization is to ensure continuous performance improvement in the company.

Supervisor: Hanák Tomáš, doc. Ing., Ph.D.

  3. Facility management as an integrated system of asset management

Facility management as an integrated system of administration of buildings throughout the life cycle. Tools and methods for facility management. Position of the Facility Manager in the preparation, implementation and operation of the building. Software for asset management.

Supervisor: Tichá Alena, doc. Ing., Ph.D.

Ing., Ph.D.

  5. Model of Influence of Risk on Economic Efficiency of Construction Investments

The objective of the doctoral thesis is to create the model of dependance of the economic efficiency of construction projects on risks connected with the construction investment. Within the doctoral thesis there will be identified relevant risk factors and defined selected criteria for the evaluation of the ecnomic efficiency of projects. In the frame of the elaboration of doctoral thesis there will be used scientific methods including analysis and mathematical simulation.

Supervisor: Hromádka Vít, doc. Ing., Ph.D.

  6. Monte Carlo Simulation in Investment Decision Making

Monte Carlo simulation extends investment modelling towards the possibility of interval estimation of input variables, e.g. in the form of probability distribution. The aim is to create a simulation model for the calculation of economic efficiency indicators of the investment project, to set an appropriate probability distribution of individual risk variables and subsequently verify the model by a case study.

Supervisor: Korytárová Jana, prof. Ing., Ph.D.

  7. The Determinants of Small Enterprises Development in Civil Engineering

Dissertation thesis will deal with the research of determinants determining the development of small enterprises. Primary survey based on questionairing will be provided on representative sample of enterprises. Civil engineering sector will be selected for the research.

Supervisor: Koráb Vojtěch, prof. Ing., Dr., MBA
