Occupational profiles of graduates with examples

The graduates of the study area Cybernetics, Control and Measurement have a broad knowledge of theory, construction and application of measurement, control and automation systems in industry.
They are qualified in measurement, automatic control, robotics, applied informatics and industrial computer networks, and are competent in the principles of artificial intelligence, and systems of industrial automation. A profound knowledge of theory and a broad scope of applications-oriented study ensure high adaptability of graduates to specific requirements of their future professions.
The graduates of this branch find employment in research, development and operation of a wide range of modern methods and means of automation, applied informatics, artificial intelligence and digital technology. They can also assume key executive and management positions, where they can apply their knowledge of system analysis and optimal control.
Choosing suitable optional courses within the scope of the study area, students in the master’s degree programme can specialize in any area of their professional interest related to their future career. They can focus on the following technical specializations and their combinations:
CONTROL (RT) deals with knowledge in the area of control theory and technology. Students are introduced to the latest trends, such as fuzzy control and the use of neural networks in control and the realization of these and other methods of control by digital computer technology.
MEASUREMENT (MT) deals with detailed knowledge in the area of sensor construction and methods of measurement of non-electrical and electrical quantities. Graduates are familiar with conversion of these quantities into electrical and optical signals and acquire knowledge of processing of these signals by digital computer technology.
ROBOTICS AND ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (RO) deals with knowledge of robot control systems, digitally controlled machine tools and other appliances used in mechanical engineering, together with basic knowledge of integrated computer control. In the area of artificial intelligence, instruction focuses mainly on computer vision, artificial neural networks, expert systems, fuzzy logic and machine learning.
PROCESS AUTOMATION AND APPLIED INFORMATICS (PAI) focuses mainly on the implementation of information technologies into sensors, action and control elements. It embraces the study of microprocessor technology, one-chip microcontrollers, pre-processing of signals, database systems, WWW applications, JAVA applications, communication protocols, control algorithms, implementation of elements of artificial intelligence and programming of built-in control systems. Moreover, it focuses on standard industrial solutions of control systems of programmable automatic machine types, decentralised control systems, visualisation and the collection of procedural data and their subsequent processing.
COMPUTER VISION (PV) focuses on the provision of knowledge necessary in order to design systems of computerized image processing. It also involves procedures of image data acquisition (scene creation, choice of lighting), selection of HW components (cameras, image digitizers with control SW), methods of pre-processed data evaluation (comparing with the model, symptom extraction, sorting). The knowledge acquired can be applied for example in the development of industrial applications in the area of computerized image data processing.
