The ability of the doctoral student of an independent scientific work on the selected topic, familiarity with scientific work methodology, especially the problem analysis and synthesis of the findings and its creative application in the proposed solution.

The graduate is ready for an independent scientific and research work in the field of architecture and urban design theory, is able to solve practical problems in the field of architecture and urban design independently and at a scientific level, publishes outcomes of both practical and theoretical activities, also in any of the world languages, is able to teach at a higher-education institution.

Entry requirements

The master degree qualification in the branch of architecture or similar achieved at a higher-education institution in the Czech Republic or a school of architecture abroad.
Passing successfully the admission examination during which the applicant proves his/her interest and expert knowledge for a research work.

  1. Building culture and urbanism of small and middle size cities in South Moravia and Lower Austria

    Systematic comparison of building culture and urbanism in cultural-historical context of both regions. Searching for similarities and dissimilarities of actual problems based on examples of selective cities with the possibility of application in other cities, offering partnership exchange of experiences within existing borders.

    Post-industrial cities are faced with the problems of neglected and unused land and buildings. Identification of their potential for development will stimulate the growth of vitality of the urban organism.

    The avenue presents an important urban element with an distinctive and irreplaceable funktion. It's necessary to find a new definitions for the development, the role and the character of an avenue. Requested features are influenced by the requests of contemporary citylife.

  4. The future of a housing estate build by panel technology

    The housing estates build by panel technology provide a housing chance for a significant part of czech population. The development potential of these housing estates is underrated. A complex research of the development chances must be based on indentification their values and lacks.
