Quality, Reliability and Safety

Original title in Czech: Kvalita, spolehlivost a bezpečnostFSIAbbreviation: B-KSBAcad. year: 2017/2018

Programme: Engineering

Length of Study: 3 years

Accredited from: Accredited until: 31.12.2020

Profile

The „Quality, Reliability and Safety“ discipline is intended for the secondary school graduates who are interested in gaining knowledge of technical disciplines and perspective sciences, for example, quality, reliability and safety. At present days, technical sciences now develop all over the word, and the same is also valid for quality, reliability and safety of technical systems. Even in the Czech Republic, there is a permanent lack of experts at appropriate educational level who are able to solve the comprehensive tasks related to such topics. The study of quality, reliability and safety is characterized as an interdisciplinary study. The students meet during their study with both the subjects on the standard theoretical basis, the subjects focused on designing and technology, and finally, with the specialized subjects, for example, quality management, industrial safety, principles of technical diagnostics, machine operation and maintenance, industrial metrology, principles of reliability, industrial safety and principles of risk management. Great emphasis during study is put on practical applications. The bachelor study programme is completed by the final state examination and by the defence of the bachelor thesis. The students can focus on the topics of quality or reliability or safety in detail depending on a choice of the theme in their bachelor theses. This provides the students with wider knowledge for their practical applications or for possible other master continuing study.

Key learning outcomes

The graduates will gain wide professional knowledge in the field of the disciplines in mechanical engineering, and additionally necessary knowledge and skill in the disciplines of quality, reliability and safety, which can effectively prepare the graduates for the master continuing study and the possible trouble-free participation in the solution of technical practice tasks in different industrial enterprises.

Occupational profiles of graduates with examples

Due to a wide theoretical and practical scope of knowledge gained the bachelor study graduates can find their employment as technicians in the different industrial areas and/or as the experts in the different areas of the public sector. The graduates mainly work as technicians of quality, reliability, diagnostics, maintenance and safety who are employed in industry, or they can work as the professionals with specialized competence in the public sector. Based on a wide range of knowledge gained the graduates will be able to adapt to the current requirements of the labour market.
The graduates of bachelor study in „Quality, Reliability and Safety“ discipline can continue in their study:

  • Two-year master continuing study of „Quality, Reliability and Safety“
  • Any master continuing study discipline which relates to „Mechanical Engineering“ study programme at Brno University of Technology
  • Related discipline of the master continuing study programme at other universities in the Czech Republic or abroad.
