Civil Engineering Management (N)

FASTAbbreviation: NAcad. year: 2014/2015

Programme: Civil Engineering

Length of Study: 4 years

Profile

The aim of studying for the four-year bachelor’s degree in the field of Civil Engineering Management is to gain mastery of theoretical and specialised subjects, and the ability to independently solve construction, technical and managerial problems in the building industry.
Study in this field is based on a common theoretical scientific foundation, comprising the study of the natural sciences, basic engineering and structural engineering sciences. Primary among these are structural mechanics, elasticity and strength, and statics. The specialised engineering content is gained from the subjects Building Constructions, Concrete and Metal Structures, Construction of Traffic Structures, Water Structures, Building Services and Technology of Building Operations. During the course, technical, economic, construction and management subjects are gradually introduced, with emphasis placed on the issues of pricing, financing and investment in the construction industry and in construction development projects. Management subjects in areas such as company management, marketing in the construction industry, building law and information systems in the construction industry are also taught. The ability to find comprehensive solutions to problems is demonstrated in technical projects from the fields of building construction and concrete structures, as well as projects concerned with construction finance and economics. The subjects Construction Firm and Public Investment in Construction enable students to specialise further.

Key learning outcomes

Graduates from the four-year Civil Engineering bachelor’s study programme in the field of Civil Engineering Management are, after completing their studies, engineering graduates with an economic and managerial education. They are entitled to use the title "bakalář" (abbreviated to "Bc.") before their name. Graduates are proficient in the natural sciences, basic engineering and construction engineering subjects and then primarily in economics and management in the technical and construction field.
Graduates are capable of designing, preparing and realizing buildings and industrial, engineering and water management structures.
