Abstract:

This bachelor thesis presents a business plan for a dietary supplement e-shop in the Czech Republic. The theoretical part defines small business principles and planning methodologies. Market analysis and research on Gen Z and Millennials help identify a specific market gap. The proposal section integrates the 7P marketing mix, brand identity, and an operational model. Finally, a financial analysis confirms the project's economic viability and market potential.

Keywords:

Process of defence

In his presentation, the student informed the committee about the objectives, solutions and results he had reached in his thesis. The committee then read the opinions and evaluation of the thesis supervisor and the opponent. The student answered the question from the supervisor's assessment in full. Questions from committee members: 1. Ing. Bumberová: Why did you choose Creatine Monohydrate as the MVP? - answered 2. Ing. Bumberová: What is your unfair advantage? Is it long term? - answered On the basis of the presentation and the answers to the questions asked in the discussion, the committee decided that the student defended the thesis.

Supervisor’s report
Ing. Jakub Ulč

The aim of the thesis was to develop a comprehensive business plan for establishing a dietary supplement e-shop. The aim is considered fulfilled. The theoretical part is at a good level, though some sources could be more current. I positively evaluate the analytical section opening with Lean Canvas for initial business concept reflection. The questionnaire methodology is not cited, and for higher validity, more than 62 respondents would be needed given the large target segment. The author provides reasonably comprehensive competitor and supplier analysis. However, an overall summary connecting analytical findings to the proposal section is missing. The proposal part demonstrates systematic work at an appropriate BP level. The author justifies entry with a single test product, which is logical for MVP validation. However, this does not evaluate the business plan as a whole — I would welcome potential expansion to additional products and calculations for a longer period. As presented, it is unclear whether the concept is viable long-term. The legal framework operates under a student cooperative (studentské družstvo Whirlee), which simplifies VAT treatment but import from third countries under this form has practical complexities that are described simply here. I negatively evaluate the absence of marketing activities and competitive differentiation — why should customers choose this new e-shop? An initial campaign concept is also missing. Formatting issues appear on some pages. I recommend the thesis for defense.

Q: Given the competitive landscape dominated by established players like GymBeam and MyProtein, what specific marketing activities and competitive advantages would convince customers to purchase from your new e-shop instead?

The thesis is well-written and, apart from the shortcomings noted in the review, meets the requirements for a final thesis.
Evaluation criteria Verbal classification Grade
Splnění stanovených cílů The primary goal of this bachelor thesis is to design and develop a business plan for establishing a new e-shop. To achieve this goal, the author sets specific objectives that support the achievement of the main objective of the work. B
Zvolený postup řešení, adekvátnost použitých metod The study is methodologically based on the use of quantitative research methods. It employs a questionnaire survey supplemented by secondary data. The author has established appropriate methods for analyzing the environment. However, the analyses conducted sometimes lack depth and are largely descriptive. C
Schopnost interpretovat dosažené výsledky a vyvozovat z nich závěry The lack of rigor in the analyses is reflected in both the results and the proposals. Consequently, the interpretation of the results is influnced by the author’s subjective assessment.  C
Praktická využitelnost výsledků While the proposals are practical, their economic assessment appears to be overly optimistic. There is room here for a more thorough analysis of the costs involved. This underestimation of costs consequently affects the economic assessment of the entire project.  C
Struktura práce, použitá terminologie a odborná jazyková úroveň From a formal standpoint, the text’s typography leaves something to be desired, and the chapter numbering is illogical in places. The structure of the paper is also illogical; the author separates the analysis of competitors and customers from Porter’s analysis, which makes no sense and unnecessarily duplicates the established approach.  C
Práce s informačními zdroji The author makes use of an appropriate number of literary sources; however, the citation of these sources contains minor shortcomings. C
