Process of defence

In his presentation, the student informed the committee about the objectives, solutions and results he had reached in his thesis. The committee then read the opinions and evaluation of the thesis supervisor and the opponent. The student answered the question from the supervisor's assessment in full, the question from the opponent's assessment in full. Questions from committee members: 1. Ing. Schüller: In the end of your thesis you are speaking about impact measuring. How exactly would you measure it? - answered 2. Ing. Schüller: What scale would you use for measuring? -partly answered On the basis of the presentation and the answers to the questions asked in the discussion, the committee decided that the student defended the thesis.

Supervisor’s report
Ing. Jakub Ulč

The aim of the thesis was to identify and evaluate different forms of team building and find out which approaches are most effective for improving cooperation, communication, and performance within ESBD student teams. The aim is considered fulfilled. The theoretical part is adequate for a bachelor thesis, synthesizing relevant frameworks, however, some sources are outdated. The analytical part includes a survey among 56 ESBD students and an interview with the head of programme. However, the methodology for questionnaire and interview design is not explicitly referenced. Including guides as respondents would have strengthened the research validity. The survey itself is well-constructed and relevant. The proposal part contains relevant recommendations, but individual proposals lack sufficient detail. The new ESBD Shark Tank format, which has not been implemented before, should have been developed more thoroughly with a proposed pilot event design. The same applies to networking events — many ideas remain general and incomplete. The author acknowledges the difficulty of evaluating proposal effectiveness but also mentions how it could be done — why not attempt it? Despite these limitations, the thesis demonstrates understanding of team building theory and provides a foundation for ESBD programme improvements. Regarding formal aspects, the plagiarism check shows high similarity due to upload timing. I recommend the thesis for defense.

Q: How would you design a pilot "Shark Tank" event? (simple schedule, judging panel, prizes, venue, securing student participation, and other details)

Reviewer’s report

Student showed good understanding of relevant terminology (team, teambuilding, 4C...). The entire theoretical part is supported by both older and more recent citations, student combines well practice based recommendations with evidence based researches. The analytical part is validated by interview with the head of programme (plus) and uses variety of methods (personal experience, interview, survey). Student uses well respondent quotes throughout the text. I find positive high number of responses in the survey, although the first years are missing. The proposal part is based on real experience and data, recommendations are specific and to the point. I appreciate that student looks at the topics from multiple perspectives (e.g. describing awareness sessions as not just lectures, but also something that motivates them for team building).

I consider the goal of the thesis fulfilled. Even though student covered also a little bit additional topic (ESBD events), but I understand why he did so. Some parts of the proposal part are written slightly chaotic and I would appreciate more tables or summaries with key points, even though the informations are in the text, it would make the thesis more clear for the readers. It is a pity that student didn't validate the capacity and willingness of guides for the proposed solutions.

Topics for thesis defence:
  1. 1. How did you make sure that the thesis was based mainly on the data you collected and not on your subjective experience? 2. Why is the data from the first years missing in the analysis and how could it affect the results of the thesis?
