This master's thesis focuses on the design of an anti-collision lighting system for aircraft utilising modern LED technology. The application of LED sources allows for higher luminous intensity to be achieved whilst reducing overall electrical power consumption. Additional benefits include an extended service life, higher operational reliability, and a lower system failure rate, all of which contribute to enhanced aviation safety. The work is founded upon an analysis of current aviation regulations and standards regarding anti collision lighting systems, issued by the CAA (ÚCL), ICAO and EASA. The theoretical study also includes an examination of LED technologies, alongside DC/DC converter topologies suitable for driving high-power LED sources. Within the practical section, the design of the anti-collision lighting control logic is detailed, followed by the selection of a suitable electronic switching components, white and red LEDs, and the design of the voltage converter (current source). The outcome of this work consists of a complex anti collision lighting system design, including PCB layouts, switched-mode current supply, geometric arrangement of LEDs, and experimental verification of luminous intensity parameters. The switch-mode current supply circuit was built and its parameters were put into comparison with commercially distributed DC/DC converter. The measured luminous intensity results of anti-collision light confirm the validity of the design, demonstrating compliance with applicable aviation standards and regulation for aircraft anti-collision lighting systems with a minimum margin of 25.1%.
