This master’s thesis deals with the assembly and experimental testing of a scintillation detection unit. The introduction is devoted to the general principles of scintillation detectors and their individual components, such as scintillation materials, photomultiplier tubes including their power supply, and output signal processing. In the following section, the realization of the complete detection unit, including the assembly and commissioning of a custom-designed active voltage divider, is discussed in detail. The third part of this thesis is focused on the experimental testing of the detector equipped with an inorganic spectrometric CeBr3 crystal, and subsequently with a plastic scintillator for simple pulse counting. In both configurations, the response linearity is compared and the functional limits of both active and passive voltage dividers are investigated over a wide range of kerma rates using a gamma irradiator. The obtained results have proven the advantages of the active voltage divider, both in terms of precise spectrometry and pulse detection in very high-intensity radiation fields.
