The theme of this bachelor's thesis is the analysis of the causes, impacts, and restoration methods of blackouts from the perspective of the power system, with an emphasis on the safety of nuclear power plants. The thesis defines key concepts related to blackout issues and describes the procedures through which the transmission system operator, along with other major electricity market participants, ensures the stability of the power system and, in the event of a failure, its restoration according to a predetermined defense and restoration strategy. Furthermore, the thesis provides an overview of nuclear power plant blackouts worldwide, focusing on their causes, resolution, remediation, and the subsequent measures adopted. The second half of the thesis evaluates the preparedness of the Dukovany Nuclear Power Plant for a blackout scenario and subsequently analyzes and compares joint drills organized by the power plant and the transmission system operator. In the final chapter, the thesis evaluates these joint drills and, from the perspective of economic and technical adequacy, considers and proposes measures leading to potential improvements in procedures for managing and drilling blackout.
